About Us
The Partner Top-Tier Clients Keep Choosing
With over 13 years of proven performance in high-risk mining and infrastructure, WDC has built a reputation that extends well beyond our Chinchilla headquarters. Major operators across Queensland's toughest sectors—gas, renewables, and infrastructure—choose us year after year for our proven track record, rigorous safety culture, and genuine partnership approach. Behind every successful project is a team of skilled professionals who bring both capability and commitment, maintaining the family-business values that built this company while delivering the scale and expertise major operators demand.
Building more than projects.
Building opportunity.
Western Downs Civil (WDC) is proof that regional Queensland can compete—and win—on the biggest stage. What began as a three-man, two-vehicle operation founded by Chinchilla local Josh Hardimon has become a civil construction powerhouse, with an annual revenue over $100M, trusted by industry leaders across the state.
Together with his wife Cheyenne, Josh has built WDC on a simple principle: growth shouldn't mean losing the things that made you great in the first place. While our capability has scaled to meet the demands of major operators, our culture remains grounded in the small-business values that started it all—where every team member is valued, not just counted. But the numbers that matter most to us aren't project values or profit margins.
They're these:
- 200+ local jobs created and sustained
- 80% local workforce – we hire from our region
- $120 million+ reinvested in local community wages
- $1million+ in local club and organisation sponsorships
From our purpose-built $4.7 million headquarters in Chinchilla, we deliver major infrastructure and mining projects for clients like Origin, Shell, CPP, and Downer. We've proven that world-class civil construction doesn't require capital city overheads—it requires skilled people, strong values, and genuine commitment to quality.

Chinchilla-born, Queensland-proven, community-committed
Safety underpins everything we do. Our highly skilled workforce maintains current certifications, including electrical authority and mine-compliant inductions, operating within a zero-harm culture that's reinforced by long-tenured employees who live the WDC way every day.
The modern infrastructure industry demands flexibility and rapid response—WDC is built to deliver both. Our internal plant division features late-model, meticulously maintained equipment operated by our directly employed workforce, giving us the ability to mobilise quickly while maintaining uncompromising quality and safety standards.
With over a decade of proven performance for Queensland's top-tier operators, WDC brings more than capability—we bring genuine partnership. Let's discuss how we can add value to your next project.
Safety, capability, and partnership—delivered every time.
WDC is fully insured and has in-house quality, safety and environmental management systems based on the requirements of ISO 9001, 45001 and 14001.
We have a highly mobile, experienced team and specialise in remote area and high-risk locations.
